Our mission - to value, recognise and develop our biggest asset: our SEN officers
“The role of SEN case officer is critical in the system yet is completely underdeveloped. A case officer brings together a range of professionals and a wealth of information, yet it is the single role within the system that does not have a professional footing. Investing in the professional development of case officers would, over time, help to instil parental confidence that children were receiving the right support…” The Association of Directors of Children’s Services (ADCS) response to the SEND and Alternative Provision Green PaperHere at SEN Experts we completely agree!
Our qualifications have been developed to meet the specific needs of our learners and have been accredited by NCFE demonstrating quality and rigor. This qualification has been accredited as a Customised Qualification and we have benchmarked our qualifications’ learning outcomes and assessment criteria at the appropriate level (using the national framework’s level descriptors) to allow learners to demonstrate the difficulty and depth of study.
Our Trainers are former experienced Senior SEND leaders from Local Authorities and the training is based firmly in practice and a genuine understanding of the challenges of the role. Current experience working within SEND Tribunals gives you the assurance that the training given is based on the most current case law and best practice in preparing for and managing cases that may move towards Tribunal.
We also understand how the context of SEND has changed since the reforms in 2014. We understand the pressures of increasing numbers and workload pressure against a backdrop of funding and placement challenges. We also understand the new challenges that have developed since the pandemic, especially around increasing numbers of EOTIS packages where children are unable to attend school. Our training is constantly updated to reflect any developments in policy, legislation and evidence base.
We also understand that recruitment and retention in SEND teams is a challenge and we don't expect you to provide the assessors - we provide all of the training, assessment, marking and accreditation ourselves so you can be assured that training with us ensures your staff meet the standards and are consistently and fairly assessed.
